Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Kat Hawks graduated from SSEES, (School of Slavonic & Eastern European Studies), London University, in Russian Language & Literature before moving to Moscow, Russia, where she worked for Bates Saatchi & Saatchi. Shortly thereafter, at the age of twenty two, she opened Karlo Rossi Promotion Agency, a Promotion and Advertising agency which included such clients as British American Tobacco, Hugo Boss, and Nestle, making her one of the youngest female entrepreneurs in Moscow. In 2000, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in voice over and acting. Since then she has starred in such film, television, and voice over projects as Portal, Staar, Meet Me in Miami, Power Ranger, and national commercials for Jaguar & Hewlitt Packard. In 2003, she began training in classical ballet with Joyce Vanderveen and later studied with Alla Khaniashvilli, Vladimir Kolesnikov and Nader Hamed. On March 18, 2010, she founded American Ballet of Los Angeles with Artistic Director Eddy Hawks, formerly of the Hamburg Ballet. Her vision is to create a company that combines classical and contemporary ballet with a strong emphasis on acting. "The first thing that makes American Ballet of Los Angeles special is that it is very much American. I'm proud to be an American, and under the banner of American Ballet of Los Angeles, it is our intention to bring artists from different parts of the world who have gathered together in Los Angeles, and even dancers from other States, so as to create synergy and collaboration through our ballet productions."
